Free for ages 8 to 12
Make a guess. Find out why.
Chemistry4Kids is a free science app for children aged 8 to 12. Short, playful Investigations turn everyday questions into real understanding, five minutes at a time.
Coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.
Every Investigation is a little adventure
- Make a prediction. What do you think will happen?
- Explore the evidence. Short, friendly explanations, one screen at a time.
- Answer questions. Get them right to earn Atoms.
- Find out the answer. A clear answer to the question you started with.
- Win the trophy. Get every question right first time and it’s yours for good.
Built for curious kids
- Five minutes of real science. Each Investigation takes 5 to 8 minutes, so it fits in after school, before tea or on the way somewhere.
- Learning written by people, not AI. Every Investigation, explanation and question is written and checked by our team, including where a simple explanation has its limits. Sponsors never write or change a word.
- Safe from the start. No adverts, no accounts, no chat and nothing to buy. Your child’s progress stays on your device.
- Rewards they earn. Right answers earn Atoms, and a perfect run wins a trophy to keep. You can’t buy them, only earn them.
- Works anywhere. Once downloaded, Investigations work without Wi-Fi. Great for car journeys and holidays.
- Fun for grown-ups too. Sit alongside and you’ll probably learn something as well.
What will my child learn?
Science and engineering, starting from the questions children actually ask. New Investigations appear in the app as soon as we publish them, with no update needed.
Can I use it in class?
Absolutely. There are no logins to set up and nothing to buy. Investigations work offline once downloaded, and at 5 to 8 minutes each they’re just right for a lesson starter or a quick recap. Each device keeps its own progress.

Questions parents ask
How do new Investigations arrive?
Automatically. Whenever the app is online it checks for new ones, and anything already downloaded keeps working offline.
Where is my child’s progress saved?
Only on your device. There are no accounts, so progress doesn’t move between devices, and deleting the app deletes it.
How do I open the grown-ups area?
Tap Grown-up settings on the home screen, answer the quick question for grown-ups, then hold the button to continue. Inside you can set a daily learning reminder, see who sponsors which Investigations, and read how the app looks after privacy.
How can I manage my child’s screen time?
Your device has great tools for this: Screen Time on iPhone and iPad, and Google Family Link on Android. Both let you set time limits and block websites.
Are there adverts or things to buy?
No adverts, and nothing to buy. Atoms are earned by learning. Some Investigations are supported by a sponsor, who gets a short thank-you with their name and logo, clearly labelled “Sponsored”. Children can’t tap the logo. A small “Grown-ups: about our sponsors” link takes you to the grown-ups area, and the app checks with you again before opening any sponsor’s website.
What does “sponsored” mean?
Sponsors help us keep the app free. We write every Investigation ourselves, and sponsors never find out who uses the app. Find out more about sponsorship.
